Basil Pinnock - Licentiate UKA (Advanced Partnerwork, Rueda & all levels) - is director of the Dance2Salsa Dance Company
His passion for salsa is evident throughout his teaching and dancing. Basil, who has been dancing for approximately 5 years, teaches and dances Cuban, The 'Cross Body' Style including mambo, and is quickly establishing a reputation for Rueda Casino and Cha Cha Cha.
He is UKA qualified to 'Licentiate' level after passing his higher level UKA exam in June 2007 with the United Kingdom Alliance.
His classes are fun but there is a great emphasis on technique. His dance style is a mixture of different influences including street and related artforms, jazz and R+B. His classes are delivered to a very high level, even at absolute beginners level and the quality of teaching is second to none.

Hey there!

Irene Miguel, winner of the salsa UK Lifestyle Achievement Award 2006, is a leading choreographer, performer and teacher with a background in ballet, jazz, contemporary, yoga and pilates. Many DJs make terrible mistake of just playing the tracks that they want to hear themselves. Mauricio believes that salseros come to dance and to be stimulated / elevated by the music, and each crowd is different, so he alters his sets according to the mood of the crowd, and not his own. This has earned him a strong reputation amongst music lovers and dancers alike. Personally however, he loves salsas with pumping beats and anything that pushes the boundaries that little bit further such as DLG, Africando or Sidestepper. In addition he also has a real weakness for old school sounds, and if the crowd is right, he will drop a few old classics. Mauricio says "Listen to the music, feel it & keep it fun, it’s NOT a sport. Enough said."

I have had some experience of Latin American dancing and Contempary Dance, but the salsa Robert introduced me to ,was something else! I went on to take my UKA club style exams, Teacher Training course and assisted Robert with lessons.

Paul Marcel - SalsaBug
Paul Marcel started dancing at a young age. Trained by Peggy Spencer MBE he attained high marks in all his dance exams. He regularly attended competitions and was British Formation Champion on many occasions. At the age of 17 he took his first professional dance exam to become a qualified dance teacher with the ISTD. During his 17 years of teaching he has taught and performed all over the world including on the famous QE2 and at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall. Paul has become an established teacher in London and the South East and is regularly invited to teach as a guest teacher at many different dance events nationwide. As well as teaching adults and children, he also performs shows with 'Salsa Heat' & 'Salsa on the Street' alongside former UK, Caribbean and World Salsa Champions. Paul also performed at the ISTD Centenary Gala at Sadler's Wells alongside stars from the Royal Ballet, Wayne Sleep OBE, Bonnie Langford and Lesley Garrett CBE and Anton du Beke as seen on ‘Strictly Come Dancing.’ Paul teaches many different dance styles including Latin American, Ballroom, Argentine Tango, Freestyle Jazz and Street.

We run a class and club night every Thursday night as well as regular workshops and dance events.
Our classes run for 1 hour.
All classes are taught in a structured manner around a 6, 12, or 18 week rotating syllabus.
All the course content (from Beginners to Improver levels) is repeated from week to week with additional material added as you progress through the levels.
The classes are then followed by social dancing and practice until 11pm where TAXI's are available for you to practice with. TAXI's are existing members of all levels who are on hand to practice with you.

Felipe is Passionate about Salsa and having been dancing for over 13 years. He has gained experience in all styles of Salsa but his main passion is Colombian Style.
Felipe is one of the new and most exciting teachers to hit the north. being described by Lubi Jovanovic as "la sangre nueva" of northern salsa dance teachers!
Felipe who is Chilean, teaches Colombian style Salsa, Dominican Bachata & Merengue. Felipe believes,you never stop learning new things all the time. Which still to this day is one of the most important teaching aspecs that he always gets across to his students. But more importantly to himself.
He likes to add his own style to the way he teaches and hopes his students develop theirs.
He is now making a name for himself with Dominican Style Bachata. Having already been used by Salsanorthwest, Tropicalentura, Jane Salsaldi,Cuban Salsa Congress-Newport Wales, Club Candela plus many more.
Having been teaching for 8 and half years in his spare time it is only in 2010 that he became full time. He constantly updates his skills by regularly attending Salsa congresses ( workshops ) both in the UK and Europe.
Apart from teaching Salsa he also teaches Dominican Bachata and Merengue. Which adds to the diversity of his classes and allows students to learn different dances through a variety of techniques.

Salsa Synergy
Anna Gibiino lives in Loughborough and runs New York style classes and Salsa events in the Midlands. She is of southern Italian origin -as the name, nose and bottom imply. Her interest in dancing started when she was living in Barcelona in the mid 90’s.
She learned meringue, and the basics of Cuban style salsa from a tiny chef from El Salvador (to whom she certainly did ‘Dirle que no’ which didn’t please the little chap much). It was the foundation that gave her the courage to venture out social dancing. Her travels took a few turns and eventually brought her back to the UK some years and many pairs of dance shoes later. She settled in the midlands and continued with her Cuban roots, teaching locally and travelling to workshops and weekenders to further her skills and experience. However, she seemed to have reached a personal ceiling on where Cuban style could take her…..
Many years later she is a hardcore Newyorker (although she can still go round in circles if necessary), and the Queen of the ‘on 2 Borg’. www.facebook.com/groups/on2Borg
Whilst she still has plenty of respect for Cuban style, and dances it both as Bruce (her male alter ego) and as a follower, in her NY teaching she places particular emphasis on encouraging ladies to explore styling and body movement to build confidence. She believes that this is an aid not only to dance development, but to helping with general self esteem, and aims to help ladies feel more comfortable about expressing with their bodies and feeling sexy (try morris dancing if you have a problem with sexy). She says that her intention is to help leads be the kind of smooth, gentle dancers that ladies want to dance with, and that make the lady look good (and hence makes them look good). She absolutely endorses breaking for shines whilst dancing, and practicing shines on any available surface in any location.
‘To a large extent our characters and frame of mind define how we dance. Inhibitions are lost and gained on the dance floor, and we all have our own personal dance journey. Learn from the people you admire, but remember that we all have different bodies and a different attitude towards dancing, so don’t try to emulate anyone else. Once you can achieve a synergy with your partner and your movements flow, develop your own style. You are unique and your dancing should be a reflection of that. Most importantly remember to smile, enjoy your dance, and don’t dance beyond the ability of your partner. If you make it your intention to always give a nice dance no matter who your partner is, be they a beginner or a seasoned dancer, you will enjoy your time on the dance floor much, much more.’

Deej and Trisha are Strictly Salsa and based in North Yorkshire, teach weekly lessons from absolute beginners to advanced level. They dance and teach both cuban and Cross-body styles, with an emphasis on on technique and understanding.
Trisha has a background steeped in ballroom thoughout her childhood, followed by frequent and intense nightclub forays, and she has incorporated elements from both resulting in her own unique, exciting,sensual style. Add in a large dollop of natural ability and Trish is a dancer in a million. Multi-talented too for Trish can lead almost as well as she can follow and regularly teaches her own classes at Strictly Salsa club nights.
Deej on the other hand has little previous experience of dancing and was a self confessed wallflower on the scant occasions he was persuaded into a nightclub. However once started he rapidly developed a taste for salsa and within three months of first stepping onto the dancefloor was averaging four to five nights dancing each week.
"Despite his laid back approach, Deej has an excellent head for moves and an immpeccable sense of timing..." said Tony Piper of Salsa York when Deej was engaged to teach at the north eastern "12th Night" salsa congress. Deej is a natural teacher and is renowned for both his clear explanations and his incisive insight when teaching classes. As sensual as Trisha, his dancing tends to the flirtatious whilst maintaining that all important sense of fun. He believes that when he's dancing, he's dancing with and for his partner and his aim is always that the lady enjoy herself.

Our fun, friendly salsa classes are in the Preston area at Longridge which is roughly a ten minute drive from Preston, Fulwood Tennis Club, Preston, and Blackburn Golf Club (check out our website www.sweetsalsa.co.uk for details).
Our classes are relaxed, informal affairs with the emphasis on learning salsa dancing in a fun and progressive way. Those that are new to Latin dance classes can take things at their own pace and there is no pressure to advance faster than the person is comfortable with. We would rather that you had a smile on your face than a frown.
Each class is split into 2 sections - 1st step beginners/improvers followed by practice and intermediate class.
Anyone is welcome to the beginners class as we think it's good to have those with a little bit of experience helping the newcomers. Rest assured though that this class is concerned only with the basic steps and the main thing we are aiming for is for everyone to feel comfortable with what they are doing.
The improvers class is for those dancers that have gained a little bit of experience and are confident that they can do the basic steps. Men should know the basics of leading techniques and ladies should be able to follow the basic leads given by the men. This class is where you will be introduced to more intricate moves but although the moves look more advanced, they are mostly built around the basic footwork patterns. Generally speaking it will take maybe 6 to 8 weeks to advance into this class but there is no pressure for anyone to join in before they are ready themselves.
Intermediate class is for more complex patterns and advanced body movement techniques. You would need to have danced salsa for some years before you will be ready for this class.

Tamambo from Holland and Salsara from London are the founders of Salsa With Atti-Tude! Dance Company (SWAT) which comprises of their various dance groups and instructors. Tomasz
London's Salsa scene know him as Tomasz Tomasito for his bounding smiley energy since 2005. He came to the UK almost 12 years ago and made his first steps in Salsa a year later in Kingston-upon-Thames. Tomasz as a youngster was always involved in sport, starting with football where he played in the league, then Martial Arts (Taekwondo, Thai boxing, Kick boxing and Korean karate). He also holds a Skydiving licence and was in the Scuba diving team whilst he served in the Military.
Upon arrival in London he decided to leave the " old Tomasz " and take his first steps toward what he always wanted to do: DANCE. You never have to ask Tomasz twice to go out dancing. He's the guy who is always first on the dance floor and the last one off. Following his passion, the new Tomasito started to learn Cuban salsa and very soon after joined local dance groups in Kingston. They perform in local festivals and promote dance schools at local events. He started teaching for his local Suave Salsa Club and soon became recognized in the Surrey area. His next step was with Michel Mandrel, former Tropicana World Open Salsa Champion and Rueda de Casino Los Mandrelles dance troupe. It was an amazing journey for him and his firsts steps into the big world of salsa; his first experience on the big stages such as El Grande and others around the Greater London area. Through this journey he developed great friendships with team members like Christian Jean-Francois Kizomba Dilary Enchufla Doble Patricia De Souza Kasia Marszal Lorraine Richards amongst others. Over two years ago his dancing hit the next stage when he became part of RDM Rueda Del Mundo, led by Fadi K, former Tropicana World Open Salsa Champion. He started performing on internationally recognised stages including the UK Congress, Teeside, Romania, Amsterdam, London Cuban Congress and many more smaller dance events and charity events. Tomasz is already booked for the biggest Festivals in the UK and Europe this year: Berlin, Paris, Romania, Amsterdam, Hamburg and others. He always say " the more you dance the more you want it. It is a drug and I am addicted. When you hit that flow and stop thinking about what you're going to do next it's like sex or skydiving. Just present in the moment; nothing else exists."
You can find him teaching in West London where he opened his school JUST DANCE LATIN. He also teaches across London in places like El Grande and Kingston. He teaches his favourite "tricks and dips " classes in festivals like the Romanian Congress.

Wiggle & Boom Salsa
Salsa and Bachata dance classes and Latin dance party, upstairs at The Hatchet Inn on Frogmore Street in Bristol, with Gabriel Thornton and Lydia Aidyl. We teach two levels of Salsa Fusion, which combines Cross-Body Salsa with Cuban Salsa for a really fun dance and Sensual Bachata, which is lovely and dreamy.
The Hatchet Inn is a lovely venue with a wooden dance floor, air conditioning and a bar downstairs, centrally located in Bristol, on Frogmore Street, with easy access to public transport, on-street parking nearby and the Trenchard Street NCP car park is very close and only costs £3 for the evening.

Wilson Castro
Wilson has danced since the age of 6 he graduated in ballet, jazz, salsa and folkloric dances such as Merengue and Bachata in the Dominican Republic. He has15 years experience of teaching, choreographing massive dance shows and entertaining any size of crowd. In the Dominican Republic he was 6 X undefeated Salsa champion, a celebrity regularly seen on TV all over South America dancing or competeing in Salsa, Merengue and Bachata competitions. He has lessons all around Nottingham, and is regularly seen as a guest teacher at events all over the UK. He teaches in schools and colleges from as young as 5!. Latin Dance Classes and Social Dancing in Yeovil.

Learn to dance Salsa, Bachata, Cha Cha, La Rueda and more, and have lots of fun doing it!

Bios:
Cedric stumbled across Salsa dancing whilst at university. Having attended workshops and congresses across the UK and beyond, he has learnt from many top teachers from around the world. Teaching a variety of latin dances since 2011, he emphasises clear, precise learning and following technique, and mixes simple spins with more complex flicks and tricks to create an engaging array of moves that flow from one to the next. In developing a keen ear for Latin music, Cedric uses this to influence his dancing style, and enjoys DJing a range of traditional and modern music to get everyone up on the dancefloor!
Julie has been dancing salsa socially for many years and travels all over the country to learn from top international instructors. She has both taught and assisted with teaching all levels as both a leader and a follower. She is an IT trainer by day and has a teaching qualification. Having a BA (Hons) degree in Music she also has plenty of musicality!

Hi, I'm Gem and I am an original, licensed Zumba instructor in the Plymouth area !! I hold regular Zumba Fitness and Zumba in the Circuit classes throughout Plymouth and Tavistock.
