Congolese frontmen Eugene Makuta and Iddo Donnatella's glorious vocals float over the soaring guitars of Kenyan rising star Shama Shah and the rhythmic grooves of Dan Waldman. These blend with the lilting keyboards of Sara McGuinness over the solid foundation of bassist Jimmy Martinez, Lilli Elena on Congas, and Ernesto Marichales on drums. Grupo Lokito have played at WOMAD, African Oye, and at the South Bank Centre for the EFG London Jazz Festival. Their gigs always pack a punch, winning them a Tropical Act of the Year at the UK Lukas Awards.
