West Africa may have provided the foundation of the rhythm and half of the percussive instruments granted but it was Europe that provided the concept of partner dancing and Europe that provided the foundation for the Melodic structure including polyphony and harmony and Europe that provided the majority of the Instrumentation used with the exception of half of the percussive instruments, some of which came via the United States ... in actual fact
